Lady Jackets Improve To 5-1

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball shot 58% from the field in the second half to post an 82-64 win over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon.

The Howard Payne defense held LeTourneau to 34% shooting in the game while the Lady Jackets hit 50% of their shots. HPU scored 40 of their 82 points in the paint.

The game remained close throughout the first half with the Lady Jackets holding a 37-30 halftime advantage.

HPU outscored LeTourneau 29-8 in the first 10 minutes of the second half and would eventually hold a 31 point lead, 75-44, with 6:02 left in the game.

Tresta Donahoo led all scorers with 18 points. She also had six assists and six steals for HPU. Dana Marrs added 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting.

LeTourneau was led by Julencia Curtis with 14 points. Andrea Ashley followed with 12.

The Lady Jackets are now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in ASC play. LeTourneau stands at 3-4 overall and 2-2 in conference.

Howard Payne will play next on Saturday, December 15th at home versus East Texas Baptist University at 1:00 pm.
