FARMERS BRANCH, Texas - The Howard Payne University softball team goes 1-1 on day one of the 2012 American Southwest Conference First Pitch Tournament with a 10-5 win over Centenary and a 5-0 loss to UT-Dallas.

Howard Payne found themselves down early to Centenary before rallying late for the 10-5 win. Katie Poerner was 2 of 3 from the plate with 3 RBIs. Baillie Trumble picked up the win for HPU.

In game two for HPU, the Lady Jackets never could wake up the bats and fell 5-0 to the University of Texas at Dallas. Jessica Morales and Tylene Middleton recorded hits while Baillie Trumble picked up the loss for HPU.

Howard Payne stands at 4-6 overall on the year and will play Mississippi College and LeTourneau on day two of the tournament.
