WTenn Gets Non-Conference Win Over USW

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team defeated the University of the Southwest 5-4 in a non-conference match at the Nabers Tennis Center Friday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets started the match by winning the number one and three doubles matches 8-5 and 8-2. Howard Payne just needed to split the singles play to secure the 5-4 team win. 

In the number one spot, Gabi Crunelle defeated Andrea Venegas 6-4, 6-3, Joan Burks defeated Lindsey Hoffman 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 at number two and Emilee Stephens defeated Raeann Richardson 6-2, 6-4 in the number six singles to round out the HPU singles scoring.

The Lady Jackets will travel to Georgetown to play St. Catherine University (Minn) at 9:00 am on Saturday.
