Jackets Fall 6-3 To McMurry

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to McMurry University in American Southwest Conference West Division action.

The Yellow Jackets were only able to take one of the three doubles matches to start the afternoon. HPU's Luis Vallecillo and Jacob Cadena defeated Donald Matthews and Alex Johnson 8-1 in the number two doubles spot.

Howard Payne picked up their final two points in the number four and five singles matches. In number four singles play, HPU's Jacob Cadena defeated Donald Matthews (MCM) 6-1, 6-1. In the number five spot John Sanuel defeated Alex Johnson (MCM) 7-6, 6-2.

Howard Payne is now 5-8 overall and 2-1 in ASC West Division play. The Jackets will play at home next on April 13th at 1:00 pm in a conference match with Texas Lutheran University.
