Women's Tennis Falls 6-3 To McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team lost 6-3 in a American Southwest Conference West Division match to McMurry University Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets took two of the three doubles matches to start the afternoon. Gabi Crunelle and Joan Burks defeated Dana LeMieux and Sydney Gonzalez of McMurry 8-5. HPU won the number three spot 8-2 (Emilee Stephens/Samantha Guerrero of HPU def. Autumn Patterson/Jaime Chitty). HPU dropped the number two doubles matches 8-2.

Howard Payne only managed one singles win to drop the match 6-3. In number two singles play, Joan Burks defeated Sonia Del Heirro of McMurry 4-6, 7-5, 7-5.

Howard Payne is now 5-12 overall and 2-1 in ASC West Division play. The Lady Jackets will play at home next on April 13th at 1:00 pm in a conference match with Texas Lutheran University.
