Jackets Tennis Falls To The Cowboys

ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team fell 9-0 to Hardin-Simmons University in conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The Jackets were unable to gain any points in the match. Edward Martinez battled hard with HSU's Erich Bein in the number one singles spot but fell 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Martinez with partner Ryan Prather also had a tight match in the number one double spot falling 8-4.

Howard Payne is now 7-9 overall and 3-2 in conference. Hardin-Simmons stands at 10-5 overall and 5-0 in ASC play. The Yellow Jackets will finish out the regular season at Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday starting at 2:00 pm. A win will get the Jackets an ASC playoff spot.
