Jacket Tennis Falls 7-2 To St. Mary's

ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team traveled to Abilene for a neutral site match with NCAA II St. Mary's University of San Antonio. The Jackets lost by a 7-2 mark in the non-conference match.

The Jackets started the match by taking the number two doubles match by a 8-5 mark. It was HPU's Luis Vallecillo and Jacob Cadena defeating Nester Moreno and Mateo Martinez  of St. Mary's. In single play, Edward Martinez took the number one singles match by a score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 over Jake Williams St. Mary's. In number four single play, HPU's Jacob Cadena  narrowly lost to Nester Moreno 7-6, 7-6.

The Yellow Jackets will be in Kerrville on April 5th for a conference match with Schreiner University starting at 1:00 pm.
