BROWNWOOD, Texas – Ballie Trumble throws a four-hit shutout in game two of Howard Payne University's conference double header with Hardin-Simmons University Friday afternoon. The Lady Jackets lose game one 9-5.

The Lady Jackets dropped game one 9-5 after tying the game at 4-4 at the end of the third. HPU used an Evangelina Tellez homerun to right field, a 2 RBI single to center field by Tylene Middleton and a Shandi Winstead RBI single through the right side to post a four-run bottom of the third.

Hardin-Simmons scored four in the fourth off of two homeruns to bring the score to 8-5. HSU added another insurance run in the fifth to bring the game to its final score of 9-5.
Kayla Castillo got the loss for HPU throwing the complete game giving up 8 runs on 13 hits. She also struck out five. Kimble Luna and Tellez recorded two hits for HPU.

In was all HPU and Baillie Trumble in game two as the Lady Jackets exploded for four runs in each of the first two innings. HPU added two more in the third to round out the Lady Jacket scoring. Trumble was solid in the circle giving up just four hits in the complete win. Howard Payne totaled 13 hits in the game with every player in the lineup recording a hit.

Howard Payne is now 19-17 overall and 13-9 in ASC West Division play. Hardin-Simmons stands at 21-15 overall and 14-8 ASC.

The two teams will finish out their series on Saturday starting at noon. HPU seniors Brittany Johnson and Kimble Luna will be recognized after the double header.
