Coach Carver moves to 2nd in wins all-time at HPU

SHERMAN, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team grabbed a 3-0 win over Rhodes College on day two of the Austin College tournament this weekend. The Lady Jackets also played St. Thomas, Southwestern and host Austin College in the tournament.

With the 3-0 (25-12,25-21,25-16) win over Rhodes College, head HPU Ken Carver moved to second all-time in coaching wins at Howard Payne.

On day one of the tournament, HPU fell 3-0 to the University of St Thomas and host Austin College. Shelby Bridges had 10 and 13 digs respectively in the matches.

In the win over Rhodes, Hannah Hicks led the way with 10 kills and a .500 attack pct. Sarah Bishop followed with eight kills. Bridges with 11 digs.

In the last match of day two, the Lady Jackets fell 3-0 to Southwestern University. Bishop had eight kills and Allison Eaton had four service aces. Bridges again finished with double digits in digs with 11.

Howard Payne now stands at 5-4 overall and 0-1 in conference action. HPU will travel to Hardin-Simmons on September 11th for a 7:00 pm match in Abilene.
