BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team started the game with a 13-0 run and never looked back defeating Texas Lutheran University 78-58 in conference action Saturday afternoon.

After a Lady Jacket 13-0 run to start the game, Howard Payne extended their lead and held a 44-26 halftime advantage. HPU's Tresta Donahoo scored 15 of her game high 18 points in the first half.

With all of the HPU reserves seeing action in the second half, the Lady Jackets cruised to a 78-58 conference win. HPU's bench outscored TLU's 41-4 in the game.

HPU's Kayla Scott was 5 of 6 from the field for 11 points. Dana Marrs added nine points and a team high six rebounds.

Texas Lutheran was led by Italy Taylor with 15 points. Chasmin Betters followed with 14 and Katy Scott had 13.

Howard Payne improves to 13-2 overall and 8-1 in ASC action. Texas Lutheran stands at 5-11 overall and 3-7 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play next at home on Tuesday versus Sul Ross State at 5:30 pm.
