Lady Jackets Hit The Century Mark

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's basketball team hit the century mark for the first time this season in a 106-53 conference over Sul Ross State University Tuesday evening in the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne opened the game with a 19-0 lead and never looked back holding a 47-22 halftime advantage. For the game, the Lady Jackets forced 36 Sul Ross State turnovers and outscored Sul Ross 45-14 in bench scoring.

Every active Lady Jacket scored with Tresta Donahoo leading the way with a game high 26 points. Donahoo also had four assists and four steals.

Dana Marrs followed with 21 points and nine rebounds. Shardena Hudson led the HPU bench with nine points. Kayla Scott dished out a game high seven assists.

Asrelle Anderson led Sul Ross with 18 points. Nicole Murdock added 12 points.

The Lady Jacket victory was also the 100th career coaching win for HPU head coach Joshua Prock.

Howard Payne is now 14-2 overall and 9-1 in conference while Sul Ross State falls to 1-15 overall and 0-10 in ASC play. The Lady Jackets will play next on January 19th at 3:00 pm in Abilene versus Hardin-Simmons University.
