BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's basketball team could not recover from a 19 point first half deficit and fell 76-52 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in  conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets shot only 27% from the field in the first half leading to a 39-20 halftime lead for Mary Hardin-Baylor.

UMHB For the game, UMHB outscored Howard Payne 42-22 in the paint and 23-10 in second chance points.

Howard Payne was led by Quelan Lancaster with 12 points followed by Michael Thompson with 11 points. Brandon Gould grabbed a team high nine rebounds and dished out four assists.

The Jackets are now 5-14 overall and 3-10 in conference. ASC West Division leader UMHB stands at 16-5 overall and 12-1 in conference. Howard Payne will play next on Thursday, January 31st at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
