Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 TYLER, Texas - The Howard Payne volleyball team went 1-2 at the American Southwest Conference pod hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler picking uo a win over Sul Ross State University 3-1.

The Lady Jackets would split matches on Friday, a 3-0 (23-25,16-25,13-25) loss to Concordia University Texas and a 3-1 (25-11,25-16,23-25,25-20) victory over Sul Ross State.

Versus Concordia, Howard Payne would take the Tornados to extra points in the first set falling 26-28. The Lady Jackets dropped the next two sets 16-25 and 13-25. Sarah Bishop led with10 kills followed by Taylor Jordan with eight. 

In the 3-1 win over Sul Ross State, Howard Payne recorded a .260 attack pct as a team with a .379 pct in the opening set. Bishop led again with a match high 13 kills along with nine digs. Hannah Hicks and Briana Williams added 11 and 9 kills respectively. Williams also had a team high three service aces.

The Lady Jackets would drop their Saturday match with Mary Hardin-Baylor 3-0 (20-25,21-25,24-26). Despite UMHB hitting .356 as a team, Howard Payne had opportunities to take all three sets. Tolli Wylie and Bishop finished with eight kills each. Shelby Bridges had 10 digs.

Howard Payne is now 16-12 overall and 7-9 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will host an American Southwest Conference pod this weekend with UT-Dallas and Hardin-Simmons coming to Brownwood.
