Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – A Howard Payne second half run would not be enough as the Yellow Jackets fall 78-72 to the University of Texas at Dallas Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Jackets outscored the Comets 24-10 over an eight minute span in the second half to battle back to within one, 68-67. A Quelan Lancaster rebound and put back with 3:42 remaining in the game would bring the Jackets to within one after UT-Dallas had built a 15 point second half lead.

That was as close as the Jackets would get as UT-Dallas pushed their lead up to seven with under a minute to play in the game. After a Brandon Gould three-point bucket, UTD free-throws secured the game for the Comets 78-72.

Howard Payne played a solid first half shooting 61% from the field while holding UT-Dallas to 37% shooting.

Turnovers played a big role in the game as the Jackets committed 16 while only forcing nine. For the game, UTD held the advantage in points off turnovers 18-8.

Brandon Gould led the Jackets with 17 points and four assists. Quelan Lancaster scored a career high 16 points off the bench on 7 of 7 shooting along with six rebounds. Donovan Ford added 10 points and five assists.

UT-Dallas was led by Chris McOmber with a game high 20 points followed by Dmitriy Chernikov with 16 points. Nolan Harvey added a game high six assists.

The Jackets are now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play. UT-Dallas stands at 2-0 overall and 1-0 in conference. Howard Payne will play next on Tuesday, November 26th versus Sul Ross State University at 7:30 pm in the Brownwood Coliseum.
