Jackets Lose To Rhodes 72-65

Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn - After shooting 25% from the field in the second half, the Howard Payne men's basketball team fell 72-65 in the third place game of the Rhodes College Christmas Classic Sunday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets led the majoring of the game but battled back and forth in the second. Rhodes was able to build a slight lead with five minutes to play and used three-point shooting and free-throws down the stretch to secure the 72-65 win.

Howard Payne committed just three turnovers in the first half but it was the ten in the second half along with 25% shooting that proved to be the difference in the game.

Donovan Ford led Howard Payne with 20 points. Brandon Gould had 13 points along with six rebounds. Bryan Adams added 10 points with six rebounds.

Rhodes was led by Patrick McGrail with 20 points on 6 of 7 shooting from behind the arc. Ryan Van Hoeck added 17 points.

The Yellow Jackets are now 2-7 overall and Rhodes College stands at 7-4 overall. Howard Payne will play next on January 2nd at home versus the University of the Ozarks at 7:30 pm.
