Jackets Defeat CTX With Late Push

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – The Howard Payne men's basketball team outscored Concordia University Texas 14-4 in the final minutes to claim a 87-85 conference victory Thursday evening.

With five minutes remaining, the Yellow Jackets outscored Concordia 14-4 after the tornados held a 81-73 advantage.

The Jackets would shoot 51% from the field for the game, 55% in the second half. After Concordia shot 51% in the first half, the Jackets forced 37% shooting in the second. Howard Payne also held the rebounding advantage 42-37.

Howard Payne was led by a career high 34 points from Donovan Ford. He also had eight rebounds along with four assists and just one turnover. Brandon Gould had 16 points and three assists. Christian Davis and Nigele Robertson each added 12 points.

Josh Sanchez led Concordia with 29 points and four assists. Henry Riasco had 16 and Brett DeMetretion added 15.

Howard Payne is now 1-4 overall and 1-3 in conference, Concordia stands at 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference. The Jackets will play next on Saturday, December 7th versus Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton at 6:30 pm.
