Jackets Lose To #11 UMHB 72-68

Box Score BELTON, Texas – The late push by the Howard Payne University Yellow Jackets would come up short as the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor claimed the 72-68 victory on free-throws in the closing seconds.

Down seven with a minute to play, the Jackets scored six straight points to pull within one with seconds to play. A steal and jumper Donovan Ford with :12 second remaining brought the Jackets to within on, 69-68.

The Howard Payne shot opportunities fall in the closing seconds and UMHB would hit 3 of 4 free-throws to secure the 72-68 win.
Donovan Ford led all scorers with 26 points. Brandon Gould had 14 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

UMHB was led by James Allen with 20 points. Antonie Chaney had 19 points and Kitrick Bell Bell followed with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Howard Payne is now 1-5 overall and 1-4 in conference, UMHB stands at 3-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play. The Lady Jackets will be back in action next Saturday at Hardin-Simmons University starting at 7:30 pm.
