Box Score
TUSCON, AZ – The Howard Payne softball team finished out their time at the Tuscon Invitational with a 6-3 loss to Saint Mary's University (MN). HPU's Tylene Middleton hit her fifth homerun of the year.

Tylene Middleton's two-run homerun gave Howard Payne the early lead 2-1 after one inning of action.

Middleton currently leads the ASC in homeruns with five on the year. She is also now tied for second all-time at HPU in a season with 26 regular season games left to play. Ashley Silva holds the HPU record for homeruns in a season with eight in 2008.

It was a four-run bottom of the second that gave Saint Mary's the lead that they would carry till the end of the game. The HPU defense, who played error free ball in the game, was able to keep the SMU offense in check from that point.

Katie Poerner, Pricilla Patino and Middleton each had two hits for Howard Payne in the game.

HPU is now 5-8 overall going 2-3 overall on their trip to Arizona. Howard Payne will play next on Wednesday, March 13th at home versus conference opponent Schreiner University starting at 1:00 pm.
