Lady Jackets Drop Conference Opener

Box Score RICHARDSON, Texas - Despite a very strong defensive performance by the Lady Jackets defensive unit, the Howard Payne University women's soccer team dropped their conference opener 1-0 to the University of Texas at Dallas Thursday afternoon on the road.

HPU goal keeper Adrienne Walker recorded 11 saves in 90 minutes of action. Walker slowed down an UT-Dallas offense that got off 27 total shots in the match. 

Stephanie Boggs got two shots on goal for the Lady Jackets. UT-Dallas did take six corner kicks to none for Howard Payne.

After playing to a 0-0 tie through the majority of regulation, it would be a goal off a corner kick that would give UT-Dallas the win in the 85th minute.

Howard Payne is now 1-7 overall and 0-1 in ASC play while UT-Dallas stands at 3-6 overall and 1-0 in ASC action. The Lady Jackets will be in Clarksville, AR on Saturday to play the University of the Ozarks at 2:00 pm.
