Jackets Lose At MC

Box Score CLINTON, Mississippi – Brandon Gould scored a game high 29 points for Howard Payne in a 86-75 conference loss to Mississippi College Saturday afternoon at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

Foul trouble and rebounding plagued Howard Payne as the Yellow Jackets were outrebounded 55-35 by the Choctaws in the game. Mississippi College was 27 of 34 from the line compared to 16 of 26 for the Jackets.

HPU's Brandon Gould led all scorers with 29 points on 10 of 14 shooting. Gould was also 7 of 11 from the free-throw line. Christian Davis had 10 points and Nigele Robertson grabbed a team high eight rebounds off the bench.

MC was led by Rayner Fredrick with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Emmanuel Ezejiofo had 15 points with five assists. Lakin Ford had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Jaron Edwards had 13 points and Deaundrea Lyons with 12 points.

Howard Payne is now 3-10 overall and 3-7 in conference. MC stands at 5-6 overall and 3-5 in conference. The Jackets will play at home next week on Thursday, January 16th versus East Texas Baptist at 7:30 pm.
