Jackets Defeat Letu 67-63

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne's Jorden Young hit a three-point bucket with :37 seconds remaining to put the Yellow Jackets ahead for good in a 67-63 Yellow Jacket victory over LeTourneau University Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.

With the game tied at 63-63, HPU's Jorden Young would hit his second three-point bucket of the night to give the Yellow Jackets the lead for good. After the Jackets forced a LeTourneau turnover, Brandon Gould then hit one of two free-throws to secure the 67-63 victory for HPU.

Howard Payne shot a red-hot 58% from the field for the game, 63.6% in the second half.

Gould led Howard Payne with 21 points. Quelan Lancaster had 17 points on 6 of 7 shooting along seven rebounds. In his first career start, Nigele Robertson finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

LeTourneau was led by Justin Jones with a game high 23 points and 11 rebounds. Aaron Frizell followed with 10 points.

Howard Payne improves to 4-11 overall and 4-8 in conference. LeTourneau falls to 3-11 overall and 2-9 in ASC play. The Jackets will play at home next Thursday, January 23rd versus Mary Hardin-Baylor at 7:30 pm.
