Jackets Lose 80-56 To UMHB

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's basketball team suffered an 80-56 conference loss to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor after being outrebounded 54-29 Thursday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

Howard Payne shot just 30% from the field in the game, 27% in the first half and 34% in the second. UMHB would hit 57% of their shots in the opening half to lead 49-22 at the break.

Howard Payne would be able to cut the UMHB lead down to 18 points with eight minute remaining on two free-throws by Brandon Gould. He would hit 13 of 15 on the night from the line and finish with a game high 23 points.

Gould added four assists and four steals to his game high 23 points. Jorden Young added nine points and six rebounds.

Jerard Graham led UMHB with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Waller had 14 points, Russell Green had 13 and James Allen finished with 11 points.

Howard Payne now stands at 4-12 overall and 4-9 in conference. UMHB is 9-7 overall and 7-6 in ASC play. The Jackets will play on Saturday at home versus Concordia Texas at 3:00 pm.
