2014 ASC Men’s Soccer Tournament Field Set

RICHARDSON, Texas – The University of Texas at Dallas men's soccer team posted a 7-1-1 record in league play to win the regular season title and the right to host the 2014 ASC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament, Nov. 6, 8-9 at the UTD Soccer Complex in Richardson, Texas. The bracket for the six-team single-elimination ASC Championship was announced Saturday (Nov. 1) following completion of conference play.
 
No. 1 seed Texas Dallas (12-3-3/7-1-1 ASC) will get a first-round bye and will play the winner between No. 4 Mary Hardin-Baylor (7-6-3/4-2-3 ASC) and No. 5 Texas-Tyler (8-4-4/4-3-2 ASC). Mary Hardin-Baylor makes its first return trip to the tournament since 2012 and makes its eighth overall appearance. Texas-Tyler is a three-time ASC champion (2008, 2010, 2011) and makes its fifth consecutive trip to tournament.
 
No. 2 seed Hardin-Simmons (7-4-2/6-3-0 ASC) will also receive a first-round bye and play the winner between No. 3 Ozarks (9-7-2/5-3-1 ASC) and No. 6 seed Howard Payne (5-9-1/4-4-1 ASC). Hardin-Simmons is the defending ASC champions and leads the league with eight championships and a 20-12 tournament record. Ozarks makes its second consecutive tournament appearance and 12th overall. The Eagles won the 2003 championship and have finished as the runner-up four times. Howard Payne makes its second consecutive tournament appearance and third overall.
 
Top-seeded Texas Dallas makes its fifth consecutive tournament appearance and 14th overall. The Comets have won two championships (2004, 2007) and have reached the semifinals in each of the last three tournaments.
