Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – Brandon Gould scored a game high 26 points in a 83-75 conference loss to Mississippi College Thursday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Yellow Jackets used 55% shooting in the first half to lead 43-31 at the break. Howard Payne held the Choctaws to just 38% from the field in the opening half.

Mississippi battled back and took the lead 70-69 with 4:52 remaining in the game. MC expanded their lead to eight 78-70 with a minute to play. A Blake Arbogast three pointer would cut it to five with 36 seconds left. The Jackets then had to foul and went on to lose 83-75.

Gould had four assists to go along with his game high 26 points. Quelan Lancaster had 18 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Jorden Young finished with 13 points.

MC was led by Willie Williams with 16 points, Rayner Fredrick had 14 points and four steals. Jay Case added 13 and Emmanuel Ezejiofo had 10.

Howard Payne is now 4-18 overall and 4-15 in ASC action. Mississippi College stands at 8-16 overall and 6-12 in conference. The Jackets will play host to Louisiana College on Senior Day this Saturday at 3:00 pm.
