Lady Jackets Defeat Choctaws 76-66

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – Britani Gattis and Danyel Bradley each scored a game high 16 for Howard Payne in a 76-66 conference win over Mississippi College Thursday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum.

The Lady Jackets shot a red hot 53% from the field in the opening half. Leading by as much as 24, Mississippi College went on a 12-0 run in the final minutes of the half to only trail 43-31 at the break.

Neither team would shoot the ball well in the opening minutes of the second. Mississippi would put together a run in the closing minutes to pull within seven, 70-63 with 1:43 remaining.

Danyel Bradley and Britani Gattis each finished with 16 points for Howard Payne. Gattis also had six steals. Sarah Van Remmen had 12 points and Shardena Hudson added 10 points and six assists. Kalin Hanna had game high 14 rebounds and six blocks.

MC was led by Alexus Stirgus with 13 points. Dominque Walker had 11 and Jaianah Matthew finished with 10 points. 

Howard Payne is now 13-9 overall and 12-7 in ASC action. Mississippi College stands at 9-12 overall and 7-11 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play host to Louisiana College on Senior Day this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
