Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne's Jorden Young led the Yellow Jackets with a career high 17 points in a 70-67 conference victory over Louisiana College Saturday afternoon at the Brownwood Coliseum.

After leading 33-30 at the half, LC went on a run to start the second to gain a seven points advantage with 14:23 remaining in the game.

The Jackets then put together a run themselves outscoring LC 10-0 over the next three minutes to take the lead. HPU would hold off the Wildcats from that point to claim the 70-67 win.

HPU's Jorden Young was 3 for 5 from behind the line and 8 of 10 from the line. Brandon Gould had 15 points, three assists and three steals. Senior Ross Whittet scored 11 and grabbed six rebounds off the bench. Quelan Lancaster grabbed a game high 10 rebounds for the Jackets.

LC was led by Kevin Lewis with 20 points, Doc Welch followed with 18 points. Kevin Cottonham added 11 points.

The Howard Payne bench outscored LC's 20-4, while LC held the points in the paint advantage 36-22.

The Jackets improve to 5-18 overall and 5-15 in conference. Louisiana College falls to 9-12 overall and 9-10 in conference. Howard Payne will finish out their regular season next week at LeTourneau on Thursday and East Texas Baptist on Saturday.
