Softball Completes Conf Series With LeTourneau

Pricilla Patino finished the series 4-for-9 from the plate with one RBI

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne softball went 1-2 in their conference series with LeTourneau University this weekend at Lady Jacket Field.

The Lady Jackets won game one on Friday 4-2 over LeTourneau. HPU lead 1-0 after scoring in the third with an Amanda Gober single to center field.

Letu scored two in the fifth but the Lady Jackets took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame. A Jessica Morales triple up the middle scored Amanda Cruddas and Larisa Salazar. Then a Gober fielder's choice brought home Morales to complete the 4-2 victory.

Taylor Rushing picked up the win for HPU to improve to 2-0 on the year. She gave up two runs on eight hits and struckout two.

Howard Payne dropped the second game on Friday 3-0. LeTourneau got all three of their runs in the first. Pricilla Patino would record HPU's only hit.

Adrienne Sanchez got the loss for HPU giving up three runs on four hits and walking four.

The Lady Jackets fell in the third game of the conference series on Saturday 4-0. Howard Payne would only record three hits in the game. Letu scored two runs in the third and sixth innings.

Tayler Rushing got the loss for HPU going to 2-1 on the year, She struckout three and walked three.

Both teams would play an additional fourth game not to court in conference standings. LeTourneau picked up the win 4-1 scoring all four of their runs in the first inning. Patino singled to left field to bring home Morales for the Lady Jackets run in the sixth.

Howard Payne stands at 2-5 overall 1-2 in ASC play. LeTourneau is now 5-1 overall and 2-1 in conference. Howard Payne will play next on Feb 22-23 in Belton, Texas versus conference opponent Mary Hardin-Baylor.
