Jackets Lose Season Finale At ETBU

Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – Brandon Gould scored a game high 24 points in a 78-75 season finale loss for Howard Payne to East Texas Baptist Saturday afternoon at Ornelas Gymnasium.

Leading 42-38 at the break, Howard Payne would lead all the way to the 13:21 mark of the second half. ETBU then extended their lead to eight with 7:56 remaining.

The Jackets then put together a 9-0 to retake the lead with 3:23 left the play on a Jorden Young three-point bucket.

With the game tied at 69-69, ETBU hit a three with :28 seconds remaining. ETBU would then 6 of 6 free-throws on the closing seconds to hold off Howard Payne.

The Jackets were led by Brandon Gould's game high 24 points with seven rebounds and four assists. Donovan Ford poured in 19 points off the bench. Young finished with 15 Qualen Lancaster followed with 12 points.

East Texas Baptist was led by Justin Felicia and Erby Thompson with 18 points each.

Howard Payne finishes the season a 5-20 overall and 5-17 in conference, ETBU stands at 10-14 overall and 8-14 in league play.
