BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne men's tennis team opened their 2014 team season Saturday afternoon with a 9-0 loss to the University of the Southwest at the Nabers Tennis Center.

The closest singles matches of the day were the number one and six spots. Will Thomas lost 6-2 and 6-4 to USW's Max Sladkovsky in the number one spot.  In number six singles, HPU's Marshal McIntosh fell 6-3 and 6-4 to Gus Cooper.

In numbers one doubles action, Howard Payne's Andrew Harding and Will Thomas fell 8-2.

Howard Payne will play next on Wednesday, February 12th at Southwestern University.
