BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne women's tennis team opened their 2014 team season with a 6-3 loss to the University of the Southwest Saturday afternoon at the Nabers Tennis Center.

The Lady Jackets started the day taking two of three doubles matches. In number one doubles, HPU's Chesney Goza and Brittany Walker won 8-0. Samantha Guerrero and Whitney Turnacliff won 8-2 in numbers two doubles play.

HPU would drop five of the six single matches. Samantha Guerrero defeated USW's Kasi Krieger 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

Howard Payne will play next on Wednesday, February 12th at Southwestern University.
