BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne men's tennis team fell 3-6 to conference opponent East Texas Baptist University Saturday morning at the Nabers Tennis Center.

The Yellow Jackets started the day by taking the number one and three doubles matches to lead 2-1. In number one doubles, Will Thomas and Edgar Torres defeated Tyler Tolopka and Laramie Linn of ETBU 9-8 (7-2). HPU's Austin Upchurch and Drew Lambert defeated Nicolas Larzabal and Andrew Midkiff  of ETBU 8-6 in number three doubles action.

Only Daniel Warner in the number five singles spot would win in single play for the Jackets. Warner defeated Andrew Midkiff 6-0, 6-1.

In number two singles play, Jacob Carrillo narrowly fell to Jeremy Rhodes of ETBU 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Howard Payne now stands at 0-6 overall and ETBU is 2-4 overall. The Jackets will play next on Monday at 12:00 noon versus LeTourneau University at the Nabers Tennis Center.
