Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne softball dropped two closely contested games 2-1 and 3-1 to the University of Texas at Dallas Friday afternoon in conference action at Lady Jackets Field.

In game one of the double header, both teams would be tied up at 1-1 after HPU's Shandi Winstead reached on an error by the shortstop allowing Jessica Morales to score in the third.

UT-Dallas added a run in the fifth to go up 2-1 with three at bats remaining for the Lady Jackets.

Howard Payne would strand a runner in the sixth and did not get anything going in the seventh to fall 2-1.

Jessica Morales was 2-for-4 from the plate and Adrienne Sanchez recorded the loss for Howard Payne. Sanchez gave up two runs on two hits and struckout three and walked three.

In game two the Lady Jackets would get on the scoreboard first when in the bottom of the first Patino lined into a double play with runners at second and third. Gober was out at second but Morales was able to score from third on the play.

It was a three-run second for UTD that proved to be the difference in the game. Howard Payne would strand three runners in the following innings and had bases loaded with one out only to ground into a double play.

Amanda Gober had two of the HPU's three hits going 2-for-2 from the plate. Rushing got the loss giving up three runs on five hits in two innings of work. Sanchez came in to pitch five innings in relief.

Howard Payne finishes the UTD series at 2-17 overall and 1-14 in conference, UTD stands at 8-8 overall and 7-8 in conference play. The Lady Jackets play next on March 21st and 22nd at Concordia University Texas in Austin,
