Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AUSTIN, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team fell 17-3 and 7-3 in a conference double header with Concordia University Texas late Friday afternoon.

The Lady Jackets fell behind early giving up 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning of game one. HPU got one run in the third on a Pricilla Patino RBI single.

A Erin McLeod triple in the fifth brought home two runs for Howard Payne to round out the Lady Jacket scoring.

Adrienne Sanchez and McLeod each had two hits for Howard Payne. Sanchez also got the loss in the start, Tayler Rushing saw four innings of work in releif.

Game two was more competitive with the Lady Jackets taking an ealry when McLeod's infield single scored Jessica Morales in the first inning.

Concordia then jumped ahead with two runs in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 7-1 lead.

The Lady Jackets made a push in the sixth scoring two runs on a Larisa Salazar double and a Kelly Kaake infield single. Tayler Rushing recorded the loss throwing the full game. 

Howard Payne is now 2-19 overall on the year and Concordia stands at 11-11 overall. Both teams will finish out the series with a single game tomorrow starting at 12:00 noon.
