Jackets Drop Two Matches On Road Trip

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne men's tennis team dropped conference matches to Letourneau University 9-0 and the University of the Ozarks 9-0 this week on the road.

In a match that was rescheduled from Brownwood to Longview due to weather, Howard Payne fell to LeTourneau University 9-0 starting on Wednesday. This match was also postponed midway through and finished Thursday morning.

The most competative match for the Jackets was Daniel Warner falling to Morgan Weaver of LeTourneau in number four singles 6-4, 6-1.

Thursday afternoon the Jackets took on the University of the Ozarks in a nuetral site match in Longview. Despite the 9-0 Letu result the match was much closer.

In number one doubles action, Will Thomas and Edgar Torres would fall 9-7 to Bishop Bass and Scott Eibes of Ozarks.

Howard Payne's Jacob Carrillo fell 6-1, 7-6 (7-2) to Greg Knaggs in number two singles. In the number four singles spot, Edgar Torres would lose to Tyler Keel of Ozarks 6-3, 6-3.

Howard Payne is now 8-0 overall and 0-4 in conference. The Jackets will play next after Spring break on Tuesday, March 18th at home versus Friends University.
