Lady Jackets Split Road Matches

LONGVIEW, Texas - The Howard Payne women's tennis team fell to LeTourneau University 2-7 and defeated the University of the Ozarks 6-3 this week on a road trip to East Texas.

In a match that was rescheduled from Brownwood to Longview due to weather, Howard Payne fell to LeTourneau University 2-7 starting on Wednesday. This match was also postponed midway through and finished Thursday morning.

Samantha Guerrero and Whitney Turnacliff defeated Shelby May and Megan Rush of LETU 8-4 in number two doubles. In number five single play, Tiffany Bullock defeated Megan Rush 6-2, 6-3.

Thursday afternoon the Lady Jackets took on the University of the Ozarks in a nuetral site match in Longview. Howard Payne picked up the conference victory 6-3.

Howard Payne would win the number one and two doubles matches 8-2 and 8-6. The Lady Jackets would finish out the match taking the top four singles points.

Chesney Goza defeated Whitney Lewis (UO) 6-2, 6-0. Brittany Walker defeated Elly Eibes (UO) 6-0, 6-2. Samantha Guerrero defeated Mollie Wilkinson (UO) 6-3, 6-4. Whitney Turnacliff defeated Kalli Simpson (UO) 6-3, 7-6 (7-3)

Howard Payne is now 2-6 overall and 2-2 in conference The Lady Jackets will play next after Spring break on Tuesday, March 18th at home versus Friends University.
