SB Gets DH Sweep Of Sul Ross State

Tayler Rushing picked up two shutout wins on Friday vs Sul Ross State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team got their first run-rule wins of the year 8-0 and 8-0 over Sul Ross State University Friday afternoon in conference action at Lady Jacket Field.

HPU's Tayler Rushing got the win in both games to improve to 6-13 on the year. Rushing had two strike outs and no walks in game one and two strike outs and two walks in the second. She allowed just three total hits on the day, one in game one and two in the second.

Erin McLeod and Rushing were each 2-for-3 from the plate in game one. McLeod and Rushing were 2-for-2 in the second with Cherita George going 2-for-3.

Howard Payne got two in the second inning and three runs in the third and fourth to round out their scoring in game one. The Lady Jackets totaled nine hits in game one while Rushing held Sul Ross State to just one hit.

In game two, he Lady Jackets were up 7-0 going into the bottom of the fifth when Amanda Gober tripled to score Kodi Glosson to end the game at 8-0. HPU had ten hits in game two while holding Sul Ross to just two hits.

Howard Payne is now 6-24 overall and 5-21 in ASC play. Sul Ross State stands at 3-28 overall and 3-23 in conference. The two teams will play a single game on Saturday to finish out the weekend series starting at 11:00 am.
