Softball Falls In Series Finale With Sul Ross State

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas - After posting two run-rule victories on day one of their weekend series with Sul Ross State, the Howard Payne softball fell 9-0 in five innings in their conference series finale Saturday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field.

Howard Payne was held to just three hits on the day and committed four errors in the field. Pricilla Patino, Erin McLeod and Shandi Winstead each recorded a hit for the Lady Jackets.

It was just a 3-0 game heading into the fifth after Sul Ross scored one in the third and two in the fifth. It was a six-run fifth inning for Sul Ross that put the game out of reach for the Lady Jackets.

Tayler Rushing recorded the loss in the start throwing 3.2 innings and striking out four. Morgan Ashmore and Adrienne Sanchez each saw time in relief.

Howard Payne is now 6-25 overall and 5-22 in conference. Sul Ross stands at 4-28 overall and 4-23 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play next on April 17th and 18th in Abilene versus Hardin-Simmons University.
