Softball Closes Out Hardin-Simmons Series

Box Score ABILENE, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team fell 4-1 in the final innings of their series finale with conference opponent Hardin-Simmons Friday at Ellis Field.  

Down 2-0 going into the sixth, the Lady Jackets would pull within one on a Pricilla Patino double to right center to score Amanda Gober. 

Hardin-Simmons then hit their second homer of the day a two-run shot in the bottom of the inning to pull ahead 4-1. 

Tayler Rushing recorded the loss for HPU and Pricilla Patino, Amanda Gober and Shandi Winstead each had hits for the Lady Jackets.

Howard Payne is now 6-38 overall and 5-25 in ASC play. Hardin-Simmons is 21-14 overall and 18-22 in conference. The Lady Jackets will finish oout their season this next weekend at home versus Mississippi College.
