ASC Releases Women's Tennis Tournament Bracket

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The American Southwest Conference today released the official women's tennis championship tournament bracket and the Howard Payne women's tennis team will take on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the opening round.

The Lady Jackets will play the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the opening round at 9:00 am on Friday, April 25th. This year's conference tennis tournament is being hosted by the University of Texas at Tyler. Howard Payne is the number six seed in the tournament. If they win on Friday, they will play the number two seed University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday at 9:00 am.

The hosting rights of the ASC Championships – which feature both the men and women – rotate each year. In even years the men's No. 1 seed will host and in odd years the women's No. 1 seed would host.

This year's ASC Championship marks the 18th in league history dating back to 1997. In the men's tournament, Hardin Simmons leads with seven conference championships including six consecutive (2002-07). Hardin-Simmons also leads the women's tournament with nine league titles including seven consecutive (2001-07). The Texas-Tyler men's and women's teams have won five of the last six ASC Championships. Hardin Simmons (16) and Texas-Tyler (10) rank first and second, respectively, in number of combined conference championships.
