Softball Falls To MC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team was defeated by Mississippi College 0-4 and 0-8 Friday afternoon in a conference double header at Lady Jacket Field.

It was the three-run first by Mississippi College that proved to be the difference in the game. MC gained an additional run in the second while recording 12 total hits and holding the Lady Jackets to eight hits for the game.

HPU's Cherita George finished 3-for-3 from the plate with Jessica Morales adding a 2-for-4 performance from the plate. Tayler Rushing got the loss but only recorded one earned run due to fielding errors by the Lady Jackets.

In game two, Howard Payne would again be shutout by MC recording just two hits as a team. MC would have 14 hits in the second game and win 8-0 in five innings.

Pricilla Patino and Erin McLeod had hits for Howard Payne with Adrienne Sanchez picking up the loss.

Howard Payne is now 6-30 overall and 5-27 in ASC action. MC stands at 28-10 overall and 23-9 in conference. The two teams will play a single game on Saturday at noon to finish out the weekend series. The Lady Jacket seniors will be recognized at the conclusion of the game.
