Lady Jackets Fall In 10th

Box Score BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne softball team came back from five runs down to force extra innings but fell in the 10th 7-5 to Mississippi College Saturday afternoon in the Lady Jackets season finale.

Mississippi College would gain a 5-0 advantage after scoring four in the second and one in the fourth. The Lady Jackets then chipped away at the lead scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth on an error by the catcher to bring home Jessica Morales and an Amanda Gober single to score Larisa Salazar.

Howard Payne used a three-run seventh to force extra innings. Shandi Winstead singled to left field to bring home Charita Gober single to left scored Winstead and Tayler Rushing.

Howard Payne was able to get runners on base, but neither team would score over the next two innings till MC plated two runs in the top of the tenth.In the bottom of the frame the Lady Jackets had runners on the corners but was unable to score.

Gober, Rushing and Pricilla Patino all were 2-for-5 from the plate for Howard Payne with Gober driving in three runs.

Howard Payne finishes the season at 6-31 overall and 5-28 in conference. MC stands at 29-10 overall and 24-9 in ASC play.
