SB Falls In LC Series Finale

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 PINEVILLE, LA - The Howard Payne softball team was swept this weekend by conference power Louisiana College 3-5, 1-12 and 0-10 in American Southwest Conference action at Coca-Cola Field.

The Lady Jackets played Louisiana College close in the series opener leading 2-1 after two innings. An Erin McLeod triple would score Pricilla Patino and a Cherita George single to left field scored McLeod to give HPU a 2-0 lead after their first at bat.

Louisiana College score one in the bottom of the inning and later one in the third to tie the game at 2-2. LC then took a 5-2 lead scoring three runs in the fifth.

Howard Payne answered with one in the sixth on a Tyler Rushing solo homerun to left field. Amanda Gober was 2-for-4 from the plate and Tayler Rushing picked up the loss throwing 3.2 innings.

In the second game on Friday, it was all LC in the opening inning scoring eight runs in their first at bat. 

Erin McLeod hit a solo homerun to left field in the fourth to put the Lady Jackets on the board. McLeod finished 2-for-2 from the plate for Howard Payne.

On Saturday, LC again used a big opening inning to gain an advantage 6-0. LC went on to score runs in the next three innings to take the game 10-0.

Howard Payne is now 4-14 overall and 3-21 in conference action. LC stands at 20-5 overall and in ASC play. Howard Payne will play at home next weekend versus Sul Ross State University.
