IRVING, Texas - The Howard Payne men's soccer team got an overtime golden goal from 
Shay Pate to defeat the unbeaten University of Dallas 1-0 Sunday afternoon on the road.
Shay Pate's golden goal header in the 96th minute of the game gave the Yellow Jackets their first win of the season. 
Tracer Moore was credited with the assist along with his three total shots in the game.
The Yellow Jackets outshot the Crusaders 21-17 overall but both teams were tied with six shots on goal each.
After his 13 save performance versus Wayland Baptist this week, 
Brice Gardner recorded the shutout win recording six saves in goal for Howard Payne.
Dominic Gillies would also have three shots in the match along with five other Jackets with two shots each.
Howard Payne is now 1-5-0 on the year. The Jackets handed UDallas their first loss of the year, they are now 4-1-0 overall. Howard Payne will play next on Sept 23rd, an exhibition with Ranger College before starting conference play on Oct 4th versus Hardin-Simmons in Abilene.
