BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Howard Payne dropped a conference double header 3-6 and 0-7 to Concordia University Texas Sunday afternoon at Lady Jacket Field.

Howard Payne stranded 11 runners in game one including three in the bottom of the seventh. Down 3-6, the Lady Jackets had the winning run at the plate with the bases loaded in their final at bat. HPU would not be able to bring any additional runs home falling 3-6 in game one.

Kennedy Coffin was 2-for-4 from the plate with two RBI. Celese Tirres got the loss in the start going five innings, giving up six runs (only one earned) on seven hits and striking out two. Tayler Rushing threw two innings in relief allowing two hits and no runs.

HPU again stranded 11 runners in game two of the double header falling this time 0-7. The Lady Jackets had seven hits as a team while CTX recorded eight. HPU matched CTX in the hits category in game one, both with 10.

Tayler Rushing recorded the loss in the start for HPU giving up three runs on three hits. Celese Tirres struckout three in 5.2 innings of relief.

Howard Payne is now,6-13 overall and 2-11 in American Southwest Conference play. Concordia stands at,6-11 overall and 6-7 in conference. The two teams will finish out the conference series on Monday with a single game starting at 12:00 noon.
