ALPINE, Texas - The Howard Payne men's tennis team fell 8-1 in American Southwest Conference West Division action to Sul Ross State University Wednesday afternoon.

Howard Payne's Edgar Torres and Drew Lambert defeated Todd Barajas and Michael Torres of Sul Ross 8-5 in number one double play. The Jackets would drop the other two double matches 8-4 and,8-1.

Despite dropping all the singles matches, Howard Payne had a few tie breaker sets. In number one singles play, Edgar Torres fell 7-5, 7-5 and in number three singles, Marshall McIntosh lost 7-5, 6-2.

Howard Payne is now 0-9 overall and 0-3 ASC West Division play this year. Sul Ross State is 2-8 overall and 1-1 ASC action. The Jackets play next on April 17th in Brownwood versus McMurry University at 1:00 pm.
