BROWNWOOD, Tx. - Howard Payne University (8-12) picked up their second win in a row after downing the Lobos of Sul Ross State University (3-20) in four sets (25-10, 25-16, 23-25, 25-14) on Tuesday evening at the Brownwood Coliseum. 

Howard Payne Sophomore Zhartezia Bradley registered a match high 15 kills and finished the match with a career best .560 attack percentage. Bradley also added three blocks to help the Lady Jackets get the victory on Senior Night. 

Freshmen Brittany Taylor recorded a career best five service aces and finished within two of her career high in digs. She would finish the night with 18 digs to lead all players. Cheyanne Lovelady also had a game high 41 assists to cap an outstanding performance from the Lady Jackets. 

Howard Payne opened the night by cruising to a 25-10 win in the first set. The Lady Jackets tallied 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage while holding the Lobos to just five kills on -.121 hitting in the frame. 

The two teams exchanged points during the second set until Howard Payne was able to pull away after a Brittany Taylor service ace gave the Jackets a 6-5 lead. The Jackets never trailed again and finished the set with the 25-16 result. 

Sul Ross State countered though, winning the third set by a score of 25-23 while hitting .250 in the frame. Howard Payne was limited to it lowest hitting percentage on the night, .171 as the Lobos took the set 25-23. 

The fourth and final set of the game was a largely back and forth affair until Cheyanne Lovelady set Zhartezia Bradley up for a thunderous kill that helped the Jackets gain some momentum in the frame. They pulled away from that point forward and never looked back, cruising to the 25-14 victory. 

Alyssa Beasely had 13 kills on the night while Kailey Doering would also contribute ten kills in one of the best performance of the season for the Yellow Jackets.
