BROWNWOOD, Texas – Howard Payne University (4-10-1) suffered a 3-0 loss on Senior Day against the University of Texas at Tyler (11-2) on Saturday afternoon at Citizens National Bank Field.  

The Jackets were only able to get four shots off against a stingy Patriots defense while Goalkeeper Nicole Goodwin faced 25 shots, 15 of them on target.  

UT-Tyler brought one of the conferences fiercest attacks and if not for Goodwin's performance in goal, the result might have been drastically different.  

The Patriots were riding an eight game winning streak when they stepped on to the pitch to face the Jackets on Saturday. They were first to strike in the game when, in the 6th minute, Nicole Goodwin was able to get a deflection on a well kicked ball. 

Rachel Crane evaded her defender and was able to put a shot that sailed high over the post in the 18th minute. It was the only time that Howard Payne was able to strike in the first half. 

UT-Tyler stayed on the attack, collecting four more shots on goal before registering the games first goal in the 29th minute. The Patriots used a deep bench to keep the pressure on the Jacket defense and rounded up one more goal in the 42nd minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. 

The Lady Jackets came out strong after the half as Rachel Crane put Howard Payne in a position to score once again. She had the first attack of the second half during the 50th minute, but it was deflected by members of the Patriots defense before it could cross the goal-line. 

The Patriots struck right back though when on the very next possession they were able to put a shot on goal that was saved by Goodwin in the 51st minute. 

UT-Tyler snuck another goal past the Howard Payne defense to advance to 3-0 in the 59th minute. The Jackets attempted to rally back though and Rachel Crane had another shot that was ruled a team save in the 65th minute. 

After some back and forth play, Goodwin faced four more shots on goal before Taylor Bicknell tried to sneak in a goal in the 89th minute. It sailed wide right and UT-Tyler was able to escape with the 3-0 victory.
