KERRVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team defeated Centenary College (LA) 8-1 in its open match at the Schreiner University Tournament this past weekend.
After their 8-1 victory over Centenary on day one of the Schreiner University Tournament, the Yellow Jackets dropped matches to the University of the Ozarks 2-7, Sul Ross State 0-9 and host Schreiner 2-7.
The Jackets swept the singles points versus Centenary and would only drop the number three doubles match 9-8 (7-3).
After dropping all three doubles matches versus Ozarks,
Noah Marlin won in number four singles 6-4, 6-4 and
Isaac Williams claimed the number six singles match 4-6, 6-2, 12-7.
In the 2-7 loss to Schreiner,
Edgar Torres and
Drew Lambert won the number one doubles 8-4. Torres would also gain a victory in number one singles 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Howard Payne is now 1-5 on the year and will play next on Saturday, Feb. 20th at Dallas Baptist University at 1:00 pm.
