IRVING, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's soccer team started the season off on the right foot with a 2-0 victory over the University of Dallas Thursday evening.
Howard Payne got goals from
Rachel Crane and
Taylor Bicknell to take the 2-0 victory over UDallas. Crane scored in the 26th minute finishing down the middle on assists from
Breon Shelly and
Taylor Bicknell. Bicknell's goal came in the 69th minute on a free kick from 25 yards out.
The stats between the two teams were close with UDallas holding a slight 16-13 overall shot advantage and 10-7 on shots on goal. HPU had six corner kicks to UDallas' seven.Â
Taylor Bicknell led HPU with three shots, all on goal and
Darbi Frazier and
Rachel Crane each added two shots.
Nicole Goodwin got the win in the start recording three saves in the first period.
Shelby Spaulding played the final 45 minutes recording seven saves.
With first year head coach
Brandon Badgeley starting his time at the helm of the Lady Jacket program with a victory, the Lady Jackets will look to start a streak playing at Huston-Tillotson in Austin, Texas on Saturday. It will be a 3:00 pm start time.
