SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Howard Payne University men's tennis team had a strong showing at the 2017 ITA Regional hosted by Trinity University this weekend.

Ben Blanchard had the strongest outing among Howard Payne singles players making it just one match award from the "C" Flight Consolation Championship. After dropping his first match, Blanchard responded by defeating Dale Wallace of LeTourneau 7-6(7),6-3 and then winning over Chris Llamas of Sul Ross State 4-6, 2-1 ret.. Blanchard would then narrowly fall to Johari Dramiga of Texas Lutheran 7-6, 4-6, 10-5.

Noah Marlin after a first round loss defeated Roel Olvera of TLU 6-2,7-6(4) before falling to Dalton Barron of ETBU  6-2, 6-o.

None of the two HPU doubles teams would make it out of the first round of Flight "B".
